"California Dreamin"

This Dart is the 270 trim model.  It came from California in 2013, a California title is present.  As such, the body is what you would expect from a California car.  It is very straight.  I do believe the car is wearing its original body panels.  The original factory spotwelds are present at seams everywhere, and the gaps between the panels are flush and even all around the car.  There is no evidence that and major panels were ever replaced, or any major body repairs were ever performed.  It is wearing an older bright red repaint.  The paint has excellent gloss and color with a few very minor stone chips and scratches.  Eye catching combination of red and black.

The trim work is very good on this car.  The side trim is straight and bright.  Original V8 emblems are still present.  The one year only front grille is in excellent condition.  Headlight and taillight bezels show minor damage but are still in service.  Bumpers appear to be original chrome with minor wear.  Stainless windshield trim is in excellent condition.  Correct factory stainless steel "ANCO" wiper blades with the wing were just refilled and are in excellent condition.

The original 273 V8 was replaced at some point with a 1968 318 V8.  In 1968 the 318ci 2bbl V8 was rated at 230hp.  Weighing only 3082lbs, this is a surprisingly quick little car.  A new water pump was installed and the carburetor was freshly rebuilt.  Pertronix electronic ignition conversion inside the distributor which is newly rebuilt.  The motor runs excellent, pulling an impressive 22 in/hg of vacuum at a hot idle of 650/700rpm in neutral.  Aluminum radiator with automatic electric fan.  It still retains its original torqueflite pushbutton automatic transmission.  It operates smoothly and shifts very well.

It drives and handles well going down the road.  Brand new 13" tires, on steel wheels, with excellent original hubcaps.  The brakes have been completely serviced with new drums, shoes, springs, hoses, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder.  A new windshield provides a crystal clear view.

Interior is very presentable.  Custom two tone black vinyl, and red cloth interior compliments the exterior.  Front lap belts.  Black carpet.  All The gauges on the instrument cluster all work as do the lights behind them.  Heater works as it should, however the control knobs are a bit stiff.  Radio is not hooked up.  Side windows operate normally and show no damage.  The convertible top works as it should.  New top weather strip has been installed.

Solid original undercarriage.  Subframe sections are excellent.  Torsion bar mounts and leaf spring perches are excellent.  Original convertible reinforced areas are in excellent shape.  Floor / trunk floor does not show damage.  The original undercoating has been touched up where it was literally falling off.  There are pictures of this in the photo reel.  No structural concerns on the underside of this car.
